Pittsburgh is preparing to host the NFL Draft, bringing large crowds, road closures, and heavier-than-normal traffic throughout the city from April 13 through May 10, with the greatest impact expected during Draft week (April 23–25).
At Heyl Family Practice, we want our patients to know one important thing: We are open and here for you! Need to reschedule or ask about telehealth? Contact your office before your appointment so we can help: (412) 931-3066
All three of our office locations - West View, McCandless, and Gibsonia - will remain open and operating during this time. Our team will be here, ready to care for you and help navigate any travel-related challenges. We are proactively planning for the Draft period so patients can continue receiving reliable care with minimal disruption.
Have an Appointment Scheduled? Plan Ahead for Travel Delays
Depending on where you are traveling from, your route may be impacted by congestion, detours, or longer commute times. We strongly encourage patients to:
- Leave earlier than usual for appointments.
- Check traffic/navigation apps before leaving.
- Allow extra time for parking and delays.
- Consider alternate routes if traveling through Downtown, North Shore, Route 65, I-279, bridges, or tunnels.
Even patients visiting our suburban offices may notice increased traffic as regional travel patterns shift.
Dates When Traffic May Be Worst
While traffic may vary throughout the closure period, the most significant delays are expected:
- April 22 – April 26
- During morning and afternoon rush hours
- For patients traveling through Pittsburgh city corridors
Patients visiting our West View, McCandless, or Gibsonia offices should allow extra travel time depending on route and traffic volume.
If Travel Becomes Difficult, Ask About Telehealth
If travel conditions make getting to the office difficult, please call us as soon as possible. For eligible visits, we may be able to convert your appointment to a telehealth visit, helping you receive care without needing to reschedule.
Our goal is to keep your care convenient and uninterrupted whenever possible.
Need Care or Need to Change Your Appointment?
As always, our offices remain available for:
- Sick visits
- Ongoing medical concerns
- Medication questions
- Follow-up care
- Preventative care appointments
If you are unsure whether to come in, need to adjust an appointment, or need care during the Draft events, please contact our office. We are happy to help guide you.
We’re Open and Accessible Throughout the Draft
Big events bring excitement to Pittsburgh, but your healthcare still matters every day. Whether in person, by phone, or through telehealth when appropriate, our team is here to keep your care moving forward.
We appreciate your patience during this busy time, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
