Do you want the opportunity to earn over $150 for completing various preventative care measures this year?

As a practice that focuses on preventative care, we are thrilled to share the reward opportunities UPMC is offering UPMC for Life members that schedule and complete screenings this year. UPMC shared that in addition to your annual wellness visit, if you complete a colorectal cancer screening, a breast cancer screening and/or a diabetic retinal eye exam, you can earn a Visa Prepaid Card mailed directly to your home. The reward amounts vary depending on the screening you complete but range from $25 - $60 per screening. In total, UPMC for Life members can earn up to $165 if they complete all recommended screenings (keep in mind, all screenings may not be recommended for every person). What are the benefits to completing preventative measures? Preventative measures are important to every patient because they are meant to do exactly what they say - prevent something from becoming an issue. For example, completing a breast cancer screening as recommended will help to detect breast cancer before it becomes life threatening. For a full list of the preventative measures and which may apply to you based on age or predisposition, click here.

What do each of the preventative measures cost? Even if you haven't met your yearly deductible, there are a list of preventative services that will not cost you anything. Most specifically, the screenings included in UPMC's wellness initiative will not cost you anything to complete. For a full list of preventative services that are recommended for adults, click here.

Why should I complete an Annual Wellness Exam? Annual Wellness Visits are beneficial to everyone, mostly because it allows patients to sit with their provider and discuss any changes (physically, mentally or emotionally) that have occurred over the last year. Not to be confused with a physical examination, this exam focuses on the patient and provider collaborating to develop a personalized prevention plan. Some of the items addressed during the development of this plan include quality of care, patient engagement in their healthcare needs and optimizing their current resources.

Do I have to see a UPMC doctor to participate and receive the reward through this initiative? The short answer is no. As long as you are a member of UPMC for Life, you can see a PCP of your choosing. For example, any patient at Heyl Family Practice that holds UPMC for Life insurance can participate.

All in all, participating in these recommended services will not only provide you the health benefits, but it will give you the chance to earn additional rewards.
